About the Role
Our data platform powers AppDynamics’ Application Intelligence Platform. It handles billions of requests per day and massive amounts of metrics, events and other data. It is real time, very scalable and highly available. It is the source of data for performance monitoring and troubleshooting, policy evaluation, workflow automation, data visualization, and slice & dice data analysis. They understand the importance of data collected from every application and component in a software defined business environment - web, mobile, server, infrastructure, hardware, and how stitching all that together enable the most advanced and effective business and IT decision making.
You are the kind of engineer that loves solving the hardest data scaling problems and are comfortable rolling your sleeves up. You also have:
Deep understanding of how distributed databases work and how to efficiently model for a mixed workload of heavy write traffic with bursts of analytic style reads.
Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
Significant experience working with Hadoop, Core Java, Scala or equivalent at the data platform level.
Proficient with at least one scripting language and SQL.
It is a huge plus if you have,
Experience with time series metric data model and storage tradeoffs
Experience working on shipped or SaaS Enterprise Software.
Experience with infrastructure as code and a solid understanding of continuous deployment into a modern container based environment.
Participated as a committer in a top level Apache project or equivalent.
