About the Role
Cisco AppDynamics is the largest / fastest growing APM product on the market. Your code will help diagnose issues happening in real-time with major companies like Boeing, Citi, GE and Nasdaq.
As part of the Monitoring Experience team, you will have the opportunity to work on making performance monitoring more usable, scalable and manageable. It starts from the moment a customer or potential customer installs the product, and then all the way to when they manage large fleets of their applications and infrastructure.
You will work directly with Product to build features that enable a broad spectrum of other teams within Cisco AppDynamics to develop our cloud and container monitoring technologies, getting involved in discussions at all levels to ensure Cisco AppDynamics is prepared for the next generation of web technologies.
You will be responsible for building everything from proofs-of-concept and usability prototypes to deployment-quality code. As part of the role, you will have the opportunity to work on building microservices to be deployed on our SaaS, and on-premise products.
Skills and Experience
oYou have a sound knowledge of fundamental data structures, algorithms, and other computer science basics
oYou have about 5 years of experience or more (Bachelor’s degree in CS or related course preferred)
oYou are brave enough to work on multiple Operating Systems and are comfortable with platform-specific quirks
oYou have deep knowledge of at least one major Operating System (*nix and Windows) know a thing or two about daemons, service managers, containers and VMs
oYou enjoy working on the client (Go, C++, scripts) and do not mind lending a hand on the server (Java)
oYou are familiar with Java frameworks, OOAD and Design Patterns, RESTful design, secure programming practices
oYou have experience building scalable software for both Cloud (AWS) and On-premise setups
oPrior open source contributions are a plus

oYou are passionate about producing the best quality software and sharing your enthusiasm
oYou are comfortable working with other engineers, reviewing code, collaborating on design while following a lightweight Scrum process
oYou can mentor less experienced engineers and are eager to work with more senior engineers and learn from them
