About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Developer to join the AppDynamics Customer Education team. AppDynamics Education is responsible for developing technical courses for our APM software and delivering them via traditional instructor-led classroom, virtual classroom, and e-learning modalities. The primary responsibility of the Content Developer role is to build learning solutions for our highly technical audiences.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-directed individual who can develop effective training courses at a fast pace. The candidate will be able to collaborate directly with technical departments including Engineering, QA, Support, Documentation, and Product Management.

 

Responsibilities

Assess, research, design, develop, and update e-learning and ILT courseware for AppDynamics products to align with the business needs of AppDynamics customers, internal clients, and partners

Collaborate with SMEs, instructors, and other content developers to plan, refine, and execute your course development projects

Contribute to the strategic planning effort to streamline and simplify the content development process

Maintain a high standard for course quality and meet timeliness for deliverables

 

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in communication, education, related field, or a relevant technical field

6+ years of experience developing technical courseware for software applications, or working in a technical role such as application developer, server admin, database admin, or similar

Proven ability to apply adult learning principles to curriculum design and the development of instructor-led materials, self-paced e-learning modules, and job aids

Proven ability to define learning objectives and develop content that facilitates effective knowledge transfer and skill development; this includes collaborating with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to explain technical concepts in relatable terms for the intended audience

Excellent grammar, punctuation, and formatting skills

Ability to use multiple learning methods and to match the appropriate methods with the subject matter and audience

Experience with e-learning software such as Captivate, Camtasia, or similar (Captivate is a plus)

Proven ability to create e-learning content through the entire development cycle including design, script, storyboard, production, voice narration, audio editing, and publishing

Experience using video conferencing tools such as WebEx

Experience writing HTML, XML, and/or CSS

Experience working with Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Node.js, or C++ applications

Ability to give and receive direct feedback in a constructive context

Thrive in an agile work environment requiring flexibility and self-direction

Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail

Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables

 

Nice to Haves

Basic comfort level working with command line tools

Experience managing lab environments and virtual machines in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, SkyTap)

Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and/or a structured content management system (CMS)

Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, online learning, learning technology, and/or web design or development skills

Experience delivering software or technical training (as an instructor)

Experience supporting technical customer service organizations

Knowledge of the Application Performance Monitoring space
