Who You’ll Work With

The Outshift team is highly visible within Cisco as it's leading the future innovation for the business. As part of the Strategy, Incubations & Applications group led by Cisco’s Chief Strategy Officer, you’ll be working with some of the organization’s most forward thinkers. In this role, you can expect to work with our SVP, Outshift teams, corporate communications, events, AR/PR and other key stakeholders to help represent and grow the Outshift brand’s reputation and our SVP’s voice as it relates to our Modern Apps business. You’ll develop strong strategic relationships and ensure our Modern Apps product portfolio and efforts are amplified and represented internally and externally to ensure we advance business goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s external and internal communication strategies, including media/public relations, marketing, general communications, and employee-focus communications, in line with the organization’s & SVP’s vision, strategy & values.
  • Work hand in hand with the SVP, becoming his trusted voice, understanding his key care abouts and being able to translate them.
  • Be a thought leader and the voice of the SVP and his team when communicating on our modern apps portfolio.
  • Build strategic relationships with the Outshift leadership team, the marketing team, corporate communications, AR/PR, events, and other key stakeholders across Cisco to effectively embed our messaging.
  • Help identify, develop, and maintain key communication channels, adapting and improving them in line with internal & external trends and business needs.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to help drive and execute digital communications from the SVP (websites, social media, email, etc.)
  • Support/create/manage the development and execution of internal & external monthly/quarterly marketing and communications strategies, tactics, and deliverables, including newsletters, press releases, email blasts, blogs, website content, social media content, videos, keynotes, All Hands, and various organizational position pieces, etc.
  • Work closely with P&C to drive internal communications around group wide initiatives and programs.
  • Work closely with the executive team to ensure employees understand the work of the organization.
  • Maintain communications calendars and budgets for all critical communications campaigns.

Who You Are

  • You have a solid understanding of technical trends, especially in modern applications & GenAI
  • You are a communications leader who has a proven track record in creating compelling content and growing the profile of an executive or functional area. You are viewed as a content development partner and are able to understand the audience and adapt messaging as needed. You have a strong understanding of the tech sector and are adept at using the tools to reach and engage with various audiences. You also have superior verbal and written communications skills. And, you have experience in building strong relationships with a highly matrixed group of stakeholders and understand the executive's function and business strategy.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent
  • 12+ years in an internal/external communications role
  • Experience supporting VP+ executives in a Comms role
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Samples of superior messaging and storytelling
  • Proven project management skills
  • Track record for developing and executing strategic communications plans
  • Ability to grasp technical issues and market considerations
  • Executive presence – ability to work with and advise executives
  • Flexibility to travel (10-15%)

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
