The Role

Cisco’s Customer Insight and Action (CIA) team is using customer and related data to help our leaders transform the business. We’re looking for an outstanding Data Scientist to join our team to evolve the way that we apply that data to drive outstanding results. Your primarily responsibility will be to develop and deliver significant, impactful, and consistent application of data science techniques to extract important business insights that enable better decisions, improved operations & customer experiences and enable business growth. Additionally, you’ll engage on analysis with cross functional enterprise partners (ONEx, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc) at all levels to understand their requirements, explore untapped opportunities, and deliver solutions.

What You Will Do

As a Data Scientist in CIA, you will:

  • Understand the business problems we and our business partners face
  • Help in the collection, cleaning, processes, and transformation of data
  • Apply data science techniques
  • Evaluate & share the resulting insights
  • Identify ways that insights can be applied to existing or new business process
  • Serve as a leader with vision and solution provider for the teams you work with

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify ways to use data science techniques to derive useful insights that can be incorporated into existing workflows and processes to enhance business results
  • Analyze customer and related company data to deliver impactful insights and recommendations for business teams and leaders
  • Work across Cisco to design & deliver a broad range of analytics capabilities with business partners throughout the company
  • Evaluate existing and new data sources and apply the right analytical techniques to generate significant insights about customers, products and the business
  • Use predictive and prescriptive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms
  • Be a strong team player who can work across dynamic teams, situations and requirements

  • Experience using Python, R and SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, clustering, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques and their implementations (data mining, modeling, simulations, supervised and unsupervised learning, artificial neural networks, natural language processing, etc)
  • Experience with large data set processing in Google Cloud Platform and SnowFlake
  • Ability to visualize data in ways that are intuitive to target partner audiences (Tableau experience preferred)
  • Proven ability to drive business results with their data driven insights
  • The skills to anticipate business and industry challenges; recommend functional process or service improvements; has working understanding of and gives to the improvement of Cisco’s processes, products, services and customers
  • The ability to apply both creative and critical thinking
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and teamwork skills; demonstrate ability to distill complexity and present and explain the data and insights in simple and easy-to-understand business terms
  • Proven leadership skills – envisioning solutions for your partners and the ability to influence others to bring those visions to life
  • Dedicated individual, demonstrating continuous learning and creativity, and is naturally collaborative
  • Team player with positive can-do demeanor, energetic and proactive
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • Degree in a Data Science, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or quantitative field, advanced degree a plus
